Watch CHAD WACKERMAN Create Drumming Magic On The Spot For THE MARS VOLTA's "Inertiatic ESP"

He breaks down the song into a sheet of paper, and proceeds to nail it effortlessly.

Chad Wackerman, a drummer with a rich legacy of collaborating with legends like Frank Zappa, James Taylor, and others, recently took on a challenge that tested his musical instincts and skill.

In an appearance with Drumeo, Wackerman was tasked with creating his own drum parts for a song he had never heard before. The track he was given was "Inertiatic ESP", a standout from the 2003 album De-Loused in the Comatorium by the prog rock collective The Mars Volta.

As is usual with this Drumeo "exercises", Wackerman was given an altered version of the song, stripped of its percussion, leaving him with a clean slate to develop his own drum patterns. The video above showcases Wackerman's deep understanding of rhythm and style but also his ability to adapt and innovate on the fly.

For those who may not be aware, Wackerman’s talents run deep within the musical world. He also happens to be the older brother of Brooks Wackerman, better known to be the drummer for Avenged Sevenfold.
