This week's new heavy metal releases include an alternative metal underdog, a sonic hammer in thrash form, and more! To the metals…

Baest – Colossal

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From CHEVELLE, GRAND CADAVER & More Out This Week 8/14

Genre: Death metal
Origin: Aarhus, Denmark
Label: Century Media

After a few years of hella singles and an EP Baest have returned with a devastating record. Over nine tracks these guys cover a lot of ground in the death metal realm. And they do so with a couple guests like Jesper Binzer (from D-A-D) and Orm.

Chevelle – Bright As Blasphemy

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From CHEVELLE, GRAND CADAVER & More Out This Week 8/14

Genre: Alternative metal/rock
Origin: Grayslake, Illinois
Label: Alchemy

Buy now on Amazon

I feel like there as been have been rumblings over the last few years that we all slept on Chevelle. Sure, we all know the hits, but deep cuts and recent stuff still hits so well. Bright As Blasphemy is another win in the catalog of proggy, alt metal.

Grand Cadaver – The Rot Beneath

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From CHEVELLE, GRAND CADAVER & More Out This Week 8/14

Genre: Death metal
Origin: Stockholm / Gothenburg, Västra Götaland, Sweden
Label: Majestic Mountain Records

Buy now on Bandcamp

Despite Dark Tranquillity remaining rather busy, Mikael Stanne, Christian Jansson, and the other Grand Cadaver lads that aren't in DT are already back with some new slabs of death metal. These four tracks have just the right amount of melody without leaning into cheese and just the right amount of doom without getting too sleepy. They have already built a hell of a catalog for this band that's only around five years old.

Incite – Savage New Times

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From CHEVELLE, GRAND CADAVER & More Out This Week 8/14

Genre: Groove metal/thrash
Origin: Phoenix, Arizona
Label: Reigning Phoenix

Buy now on Amazon

Straight up, no-frills thrash and grooves here. This is the heavy and driving stuff that you'd expect. This is their first with Layne Richardson (Becomes Astral) on guitar and the dude knows the assignment.

Panopticon – Laurentian Blue

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From CHEVELLE, GRAND CADAVER & More Out This Week 8/14

Genre: Folk
Origin: Louisville, Kentucky
Label: Nordvis

Buy now on Bandcamp

Up next we have some folk in a forest. Austin Lunn is taking this about as far as you can get from the blackened side of this project here, and yet it still hits with a ton of weigh. You're getting swells of strings, banjo, accordion, and the likes and you won't even miss the grim stuff.

Rise Against – Richochet

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From CHEVELLE, GRAND CADAVER & More Out This Week 8/14

Genre: Punk
Origin: Chicago, Illinois
Label: Loma Vista

Buy now on Bandcamp

Rise Against seem to hit a lot harder when things are especially charged politically. So perfect timing for this one to hit you with punk rage and oodles of catchy moments. The theme of the record is connectedness, so perhaps you'll connect with them this time if you haven't before.

Treasvre – Kintsugi (Side A)

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From CHEVELLE, GRAND CADAVER & More Out This Week 8/14

Genre: Gothic/experimental rock
Origin: San Francisco, California
Label: Self released

Buy now on Bandcamp

Somewhere between your upbeat Type O Negative songs, Metric, and Katatonia you'll find this gem of a band. This has tons of atmosphere and energy presented in a haunted void. Earlier this week they dropped side a of their new record and it will leave you wanting the other half soon.

Unleashed – Fire Upon Your Lands

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From CHEVELLE, GRAND CADAVER & More Out This Week 8/14

Genre: Death metal
Origin: Stockholm, Sweden
Label: Napalm

Buy now on Bandcamp

Wrapping this week with a bit of a Norse history lesson by way of death metal. This is their sixth in their on-going Odalheim saga, so to fully "get" this, you pay need to trek back a ways. It stands as a mighty metal beast on it's own though.
