This week's new heavy metal releases include gothic doom, a thrash masterclass, and more! To the metals…
Blood Vulture – Die Close

Genre: Gothic metal/sludge
Origin: New York, New York
Label: Pure Noise
Buy now on Bandcamp
Jordan Olds (Two Minutes To Late Night) has already proven that he's not just fun, star-studded covers with the band Cherisher. This time though, he's setting out on his own with under the Blood Vulture moniker and the result is an emotional and heavy record. It's a little Type O Negative, a little hardcore, a little sludge, and more. Kristin Hayter (fka Lingua Ignota), Jade Puget (AFI), Brian Fair (Shadows Fall) all join him for a track as well.
Botch – 061524

Genre: Mathcore
Origin: Tacoma, Washington
Label: Sargent House
Buy now on Bandcamp
Last year was a hell of a time to be alive and a Botch fan. They reunited to go on their last tour and this is the last show of that tour. This includes sixteen songs with five from American Nervoso, An Anthology of Dead Ends, and We Are The Romans, then just for kicks their one-off single "One Twenty Two."
Deadguy – Near-Death Travel Services

Genre: Mathcore/metalcore
Origin: New Jersey
Label: Relapese
Buy now on Bandcamp
Thirty years after their first album, Deadguy have returned full of fury. This is a return a lot of folks thought they'd never see. I've said it quite a bit with some bands returning over the last few years, but what a time to be alive… well, music-wise. Sucks in most other ways.
Heaven Shall Burn – Heimat

Genre: Metalcore/melodic death metal
Origin: Saalfeld, Germany
Label: Century Media
Buy now on Bandcamp
These lads are hitting you hard on their tenth album. This is a masterful balance of metalcore and melodic death metal. In a pretty cool move this includes a cover of Killswitch Engage's classic "Numbered Days" that Jesse Leach sings on. If the main record wasn't enough, there is a quartet of bonus songs (or a bonus disc or something. Whatever.), so you're getting a lot to enjoy.
Inhuman Condition – Mind Trap

Genre: Death metal/thrash
Origin: Florida
Label: Listenable Insanity Records
Buy now on Bandcamp
Album number three from these guys in another collection of incredibly Floridian-sounding death metal songs (though only one guy is actually from Florida). Look at the album cover. This record sounds like that. Helping them out there are cameos from Paul Mazurkiewicz (Cannibal Corpse), Jamie Stewart (The Absence), and Jonas Kjellgren (Ironmaster).
Sodom – The Arsonist

Genre: Thrash
Origin: Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
Label: Steamhammer
Buy now on Bandcamp
Sodom's first album in five years is another pissed off thrasher. These guys helped to solidify what thrash is and this record is proof that they still know how to do it well. No bullshit here.
