Earache Kit

Earache Records have just announced they are adopting a brand new music format from South Korea known as KiTAlbums.

KiTAlbums are meant to be "a hybrid between physical and digital music, giving fans a collectible item that unlocks exclusive content," as described by the company who manufactures them, Muzlive.

The kit includes exclusive memorabilia and content from the band, alongside a 'cartridge' that one pairs to their phone to access the music through KiTAlbum's digital app. The user can access the album for 24 hours before needing to pair with the cartridge again. Different kits have different contents.

And with Korean artists seeing massive success with this new format, it's slowly finding it's way to the west of the world as UK label Earache Records has now adopted the new format for several of their previous releases.

The head of the label said that he thinks "KiT is already the most important physical format since the CD," due to its ability to immerse listeners through its "unique combination of tactility and scarcity of physical media and the portability and user-friendliness of the digital technology."

You can pre-order the kits for the following artists here.
