CARICATURE Streams Super Heavy Version Of TYPE O NEGATIVE's "Red Water (Christmas Mourning)"

It's always a good season to be negative.

Caricature is back to make your holiday season that much more depressing, thanks to a cover of Type O Negative's track "Red Water (Christmas Mourning)". It's a very cool cover that doesn't try to be the original, yet still retains the spirit of the song itself. It's just a solid cover that I find myself coming back to quite a bit.

"Peter Steele is impossible to duplicate or even come close to. He had such a distinct feel for timing and tone that was all his own that we didn't even try to replicate it," wrote Caricature mastermind Joseph Spiller.

"Type O Negative always put their own spin on any song they covered and it only felt right to do the same with this.I listened to this song on repeat as a kid. Having a Christmas song that wasn't happy was oddly comforting while being in a similar situation as the lyrics (minus the booze), I truly hope we did Peter, Kenny, Josh, and Johnny right with this.

"Their music has been everything for me for so long and I was even lucky enough to spend a small amount of time with peter as a kid and doing music stuff years ago. He was an incredibly kind man and not at all scary like young me expected. 'You're a weird kid, huh? It's okay, I was a weird kid too' was a small joke/friendly rib he sent to me after I gave him a flower. Being young, living in isolated rural Maine… that meant the world and made me feel a bit of hope. Years later he remembered me and called me a weirdo again."

The Type O Negative covers comes as a followup to Caricature's surprise comeback track released just weeks ago titled "Smile Harder" which featured Anup Sastry on drums and the string quartet SEVEN)SUNS (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Vitamin String Quartet, etc.). You can also check that out below, and you should! It's fucking sick.
